Gwen Jones OTR/L, LMT, BNH has been a practicing occupational therapist and studied integrative health care for over 3 decades. She has been a student of nature and science for most all of her life. Her first sign and interest with health and nutrition began as early as 5 years of age when she had a little hamster. She knew at that early age that that little animal needed vitamins to be as healthy as it could be. So she made an effort to provide for it. She continued with some formal training with nutrition in San Diego, CA in the early 1980's. Gwen has always worked with animals, mainly dogs and horses and considered pursuing a degree in Veterinarian but soon realized that the human health field was a better fit for her. Gwen states, "It was like I could feel the animals pain and discomfort at a very early age." So, Veterinarian turned out to not be a good choice after doing a rotation at a well known horse hospital in the Lexington area. "I would have had them all in my back yard trying to take care of them all."
Gwen has always been able to relate with the animals she was around. She didn't really understand this so much, when she realized that not everyone could do this. She thought everyone could interact in this way. She remembers It wasn't so much talking to them with words but like I knew what they were thinking or how they were processing or understand how they felt. In her teens she remembers getting a book on discovering ESP with animals. She has always been fascinated with this intuitive ability that she is able to share. As she has moved through life she has notices this skill continues to develop and has incorporated this skill as she is practicing in her private office. I notice with more hands on work with people that this intuition is becoming second nature to me. "I see it now in my maturity as a gift and I have learned to appreciate it."Gwen is the founder and owner of Take A New Approach Health & Wellness Center. Gwen continues to enjoy working with dogs and horses and fascination with all animals, her first love. She states she is always striving for balance with her work and leisure pursuits.
